Buttonhole Stitch

Draw two parallel lines, the length you desire.

Step 1: Bring the needle up at the lower line (not shown in the picture)

Step 2: Pass the needle through the fabric starting at the upper line (as shown in the picture). Make sure that the thread is UNDER the needle. 

Step 3: Bring the needle up, pulling the thread and creating a loop.

 

Step 4: Pass the needle through the fabric (like in step 2) right next to the previous stitch.

 

 

Step 5: Bring the needle up, pulling the thread and creating the next loop.

 

Repeat for the length that you desire.
